English Lantern Clock Quarter Striking

Description

A good quality English lantern clock. A brass case with silvered chapter ring and engraved to the centre 'Harrison & Son, Ye County Goldsmiths, Darlington'. An 8-day duration mechanism with 'ting tang' quarter strike on two gongs. A presentation engraved to the back door to 'Captain Bernard Hedley from Hedley Hope Collieries, County Durham on the occasion of their marriage'.

A presentation cross is in the Green Howards regimental museum in Richmond, Yorkshire commemorating Captain Bernard Hedley's involvement in WW1. Circa 1915.
