This watercolour is a perfect example of the work of Henry Charles Fox its a glimpse of rural life just after the Great War. signed and dated 1916.Fox was born in London in 1855,he lived there until he moved to Kingston-upon- Thames.Fox travelled widely across the south of England painting scenes in Surrey, Berkshire Kent and Sussex.In 1880 Fox had his first painting accepted at the Royal Academy, the first of many.Fox exhibited at many galleries including the Royal Institution of Painters in Watercolour, Glasgow Institute of Fine Art,Royal Society of British Artists, Manchester City Art Gallery and the Royal Hibernian Academy. In 1889 Henry Charles Fox was elected a full member of the Royal Society of British Artists, he died in Horsham, West Sussex in April 1929.
