A superb atmospheric Watercolour by Alice Blanche Ellis, Painter and Illustrater act.1876 - 1916 (signed and dated 1904) showing "The Old Customs House" Dartmouth Devon inscribed Verso. Ellis was a gold medal winner from the Bloomsbury School of Art. She lived in Hereford and later Hounslow Middlesex and is noted for her paintings of Fruit for the Herefordshire Pomona of which only 600 were published, they sell for many thousands of pounds.
Her collaborater in the work was Edith Elizabeth Bull of the Woolhope Naturalists Field Club.Alice Blanche Ellis Watercolours can be seen in the Cider museum Hereford also Galleries in the U.K. and America.Exh 1880-1916. Royal Academy.London Salon. Royal Society of British Artists.
