Stunning Alhambra Throne Chair c1890

This beautiful chair is covered with bone inlay and has a pierced back. It is incredibly ornate and dates from the late 19th century.

The design and shape is based on a Nasrid period chair from Islamic Spain. A much earlier version of this type of chair was offered at Sothebys of London for an estimate of £200,000-£300,000 in October 2016 (full details on request).

The chair is in a warm walnut and is decoratively carved and inlaid with geometric patterns in mother of pearl and bone. The back of the chair includes a carved poetic inscription. The chair has three screw fit metal rods to the seat which can be removed and then the chair can be folded. The style of the chair is very pleasing to the eye and it it would make a great focal point within a room.

It measures 103cms High x 60 cms Wide x 60 cms Depth.
This piece is in excellent order with very minor losses and blemishes commensurate with age.

Please note that we are also selling two large rectangular Moorish inlaid tables and a large two tier table. The two rectangular tables are very similar in dimension, style, carving and inlay and would have come from the same workshop.

Please note this item is large and will incur commensurate shipping charges.
