Unique 1873 etched and frosted window with Bradford Coat of Arms

This is an absolutely stunning and unique piece of local history.
The detail and quality on this piece of glass is amazing.

We have been advised by the previous owner that this small but elegant etched glass window was originally fitted in Bradford Town Hall when it was erected in 1873. However, when City Hall was extended during 1905-1910, this window, along with many others along that section of the building, were removed and placed in storage.

You can see the beautifully detailed boar’s head at the top, with the three hunting horns and turret displayed on the shield below. On close inspection you can see numerous tiny bubbles in the glass.

We sold a very large six foot, Victorian stained glass window with the Bradford coat of arms ten years ago for £1000, also from the same collector. We have also been informed that, when the new extension was opened, the design of the arms of Bradford was changed, rendering this piece surplus to requirements. The arms are surrounded by a circle decorated with pellets. Each corner of the window is delightfully decorated.

This piece was mounted into a solid wood frame with hanging brackets, by the previous owner. It measures 46cm x 46cm and weighs around 2kg.

This wonderful piece of local history is ready to display and would look amazing in any room.

It is in excellent condition with very minor blemishes commensurate with age.
