Hutton-Clarke Antiques is pleased to offer this extremely rare and unusual Davenport desk in beautiful bird’s eye maple, dating to around 1830. The desk features a bank of real drawers to one side, balanced by cleverly designed false drawers to the other, maintaining the symmetry typical of the form.

A sliding top reveals a well-appointed interior with attractive storage compartments, complemented by a charming swing-out pen holder. The piece stands on a plinth base with original castors and is adorned with elegant, restrained columns to the front.

Both practical and decorative, this delightful Davenport would sit comfortably in many parts of the home—ideal as a compact writing desk or as a distinctive occasional piece with a lamp upon it, allowing its simple aesthetic and fine craftsmanship to be appreciated.
