Description

A rare antique terracotta Chinese ridge tile with a sage riding a rooster with a grotesque mask to the front. The Chinese rooster signifies honesty, fortune and luck. Only temples and important buildings were allowed to be decorated with tiles of this type. This fine example has high quality moulding and a rich ochre coloured glaze. This tile is in very good condition. A fantastic decorative piece.
