Good George II quarter repeating ebonised bracket clock by Ferdinand Vigne, London, c.1750.

The well proportioned bell top case with ebonised fruit wood veneered onto an oak carcass, pieced brass sound panels to all four sides and a substantial brass carrying handle. It has glazed lockable doors and stands on moulded pad feet.

The 7" break arch brass dial has a finely matted centre with a false pendulum aperture ,applied silvered chapter ring, corner spandrels. The chapter ring is engraved with Arabic minute and Roman numeral hour indicators with the makers name 'Ferd' Vigne, London' signed around the 6-0-clock position. In the arch, there is a silvered strike silent dial again with a matted centre.

The substantial three train, 6 pillar eight day movement has a verge escapement and quarter repeating mechanism on six bells. The hours are sounded on a separate bell. The back plate is elaborately engraved with scrolling foliage.
The nest of six bells sound on the quarter hours making a lovely sound, not always the case if the bells are not well matched.
