Description

Good late George III period repeating mahogany bracket clock of small proportions by Smith, London c.1810.
The arched case with brass carrying handle is veneered in figured mahogany and fitted with brass fish scale panels beneath the round painted dial to the front with glazed panels to the side and back door sitting on a moulded plinth above brass bracket feet.
The 7" painted convex dial with fine Roman numerals and signed Smith, London, is protected by a convex glass fitted in a brass bezel within a opening full panel front door.
The high quality eight day double fusee movement strikes the hour with repeat function operated by a pull chord that strikes the current hour on the large central bell. The back plate is fully engraved with decorative scolls and border.
