Description
A very good quality round topped barometer by this renowned partnership, makers of some of the finest wheel barometers of the period. The case is veneered in figured mahogany and is edged with triple strung tulipwood banding, the detachable thermometer case also has matching banding.The well engraved 10" silvered dial is signed 'Lione & Somalvico, 14 Brook St. Holborn, London'.
The partnership of Joseph Somalvico and Dominick Lione was formed in 1805 and is recorded as working from 125 Holborn Hill 1805-1807 and at 14 Brook St. Holborn from 1811-1819.
