Description

A fine pair of 19th century display pedestals

White marble tops sit above variated blue scagliola columns upon ebonised wooden plinths.

The simulated marble column bodies are of a particularly striking colour. The white marble caps with some minor shading wear commensurate with age and use.

Scagliola being a decorative Italian technique where a composite stucco body is created and coloured using bonded plaster. This can be shaped and polished to simulate marble. A highly effective substitute for costly marble.
