Three Bois Durci Medallions of Composers
Description
Three mid 19th century French bois durci medallions of composers.The medallions are profiles of the composers Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven.
Bois Durci was used as an ebony or hard wood substitute and was made from hard wood sawdust mixed with animal blood that was heated and compressed in a mould.
The medallions are in good condition. (Circa 1850)
