Antique Edwardian Inlaid Mahogany Twin P
Description
Superb quality and very attractive twin pedestal deskDating from the early part of the 20th century when quality was not compromised for price
Made in 3 sections the top box section has a wonderful leather writing area marked into 3 sections with wonderful gilt tooling
The desk has the added decoration of inlaid/cross-banded edges to the drawers and top
The handles are made from solid brass and of the swan neck design
Each drawer has a lock (although 1 is missing.. there are no keys but these are easily available ( a little tip...take the lock to the locksmith and he will normally supply at a reasonable rate)
The desk is in good order throughout with only acceptable signs of use as you would expect from a piece of furniture which has been in use for over 100 years
DateEdwardian
DimensionsThe desk measures 54" wide x 28" deep x 23" high, the knee hole is 24
Conditionhere is an old small burn on the very edge of the desk hardly noticeable as over time it has blended into the polish, there are a couple of marks on the leather , a good red shoe polish with rectify this
The desk has some other quality features .. the drawer bottoms are solid wood, the drawer sides are solid and have fine dovetail joints, the top drawer base has a couple of cracks probably caused by the drawer being overloaded at some time , this has not effected the integrity of the drawer at all
The desk would obviously benefit from a good clean and polish , but I can not emphasise enough the terrific value this desk offer
