Technical Description
An 18th century pedestal stem sweetmeat glass. A double ogee bowl with a turned out rim rests upon a hollow eight-sided pedestal stem. The piece is supported by a very large domed and folded foot with a rough pontil.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time the Robert Walpole resigned as First Lord of the Treasury. he served twenty years and three hundred and fourteen days as Prime Minister, the longest single term ever, and also longer than the accumulated terms of any other British Prime Minister to date.
