Silver Repousse Pair-cased Pocket Watch

Made in London, England circa 1759

This is an exquisite early 18th century (George II) silver repousse pair-cased pocket watch made by watchmaker, John Wilter in London, England circa 1759. Considering the fact that this watch is over 250 years old, it is in remarkably good condition – an absolute must-have collector’s item! This keywind watch comes with its own old key.

DIAL: The original hand painted white enamel dial has black Roman numerals and an outer arcaded Arabic five-minute chapter. It has golden Louis XVI hands and is covered in genuine bull eye mineral glass.

MOVEMENT: The verge fusee movement has a sprung three-arm balance, pierced foliate balance bridge, silvered regulating dial and square baluster pillars. It is is signed John Wilter, London and numbered 5484.

The movement is currently functioning well, but due to its antique nature, we cannot guarantee precise accuracy.

CASE: The silver repousse outer case is really the beauty of this pocket watch - depicting figures and animals in a scroll border (see pictures!) The outer case is hallmarked for London and engraved with the initials R.N. A truly magnificent timepiece!
