Description

The caramel glazed pottery jug modelled as a monkey with pierced mouth, converted sometime in the late nineteenth or early twentieth century to a chamberstick, the crown of the monkey’s head removed to make way for a spelter and bakerlite(?) shaped rod and candle holder the base of squat onion shaped form.

The condition of the piece is very good, the colour is still vibrant and there are no chips or cracks and the chamberstick facility is in good solid operable order.

A whimsical and fun bed fellow, you can be sure you won’t be seeing another one of these whilst wandering down a spiral staircase or feasting upon any dining table.
