Description

A good Antique, 18th Century, George III, Sterling Silver Tray made by Alexander Gairdner in Edinburgh and dating from c1764.


It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "AG" for Alexander Gairdner, the Scottish "thistle" Sterling Silver mark, the "Castle" Edinburgh town mark and date letter "k" for 1764/65.
The tray is supported on three hoofed feet and has shell decoration to the rim.
There is an armorial crest engraved to the centre.
The tray measures 7 1/2" inches (190mm) in diameter.
The weight is 224.1g/7.90oz/7.20ozt
It is in very good condition
