Description

A very good Antique, Victorian Silver Half Hunter Cased Pocket Watch by J W Benson of London, dating from c1890.
The sterling silver watch case is in good condition. The fron cover with the hours in blue enamel Roman numerals. The engine turned engraving has been polishedand is smooth nearer the case side band. The case hallmarked with the maker's mark "JWB" for J W Benson, the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Leopard's Head London town mark and date letter "P" for 1890/91.
The inner cuvette with a presentation inscription (see photo).
The good quality English movement, is signed with the model name "The Field Watch" and the maker "J W Benson, 62 & 64 Ludgate Hill, London".
Also with detaisl of the company Royal Warrant - "By Special Warrant to H.M. The Queen & H.R.H The Prince of Wales".
The dial also signed by the makers "J W Benson, London". The dial in very good condition, a faint hairline visible from the subs secs dial to the 23 minute mark.
