Description

An extremely nice, Antique, Victorian, Scottish Silver Fruit Bowl or Basket by the highly regarded silversmiths Hamilton & Inches of Edinburgh, dating from c1898.
Hamilton & Inches were established by Robert Kirk Inches and his uncle James Hamilton, opening their first premises at Princes Street, Edinburgh in 1866. The firm are still in Edinburgh today operating from their premises in George Street. They also hold the Royal Warrant as suppliers to the Queen.
The bowl is in excellent condition.
It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "H&I" for Hamilton & Inches, the Scottish "thistle" sterling silver mark, the Edinburgh "Castle" town mark and date letter "r" for 1898/99.
