A lovely, Antique, Victorian 9CT Gold Penknife originally retailed by J C Vickery, Regent Street, London.
John Collard Vickery was a Jeweller, Gold & Silversmiths and maker of Leather Goods. The firm was an important player in the retail market selling travel and sporting related items. It obtained numerous Royal Warrants from the British Royal Family and others.
The knife has full English hallmarks, with "(" and ".375" for 9 carat gold, the maker's mark "NBLd" and date letter "S". There is no town mark, but the letter "S" is the same stamp as Birmingham 1892/93.
The steel blades stamped with the retailer's name "JC Vickery, 183 Regent St.". The blades with some rust marks as can be seen (see photo).
The knife is engraved with the name "Dorothy" along one side, the date "10 Dec 1910" to the other.
