Description

A nice Antique English Silver Snuff Box made by Edward Smith, Birmingham and dating from 1832.
The box is hallmaked on the interior, the lid with the Monarch's Head duty Mark (William IV), the maker's mark "ES" for Edward Smith and the Lion Passant Silver Mark. The base with the Birmingham anchor town mark, the maker's mark "ES" and the date letter "f" for 1832/33.
The box has engine turned engraving to the lid and base and a reeded finish to the sides. The lid with a rectangular cartouche that is free of initials.
The box is in good condition but does have some wear and very minor indents, the corners of the base compressedslightly. The interior has a worn patch to the gilding (see photo)
