Description

A very nice, Antique, early Victorian, 18CT Gold Gentleman's Pocket Watch made by James Ritchie of Edinburgh and dating from 1837.
The 18ct gold watch case is hallmarked with "crown" above "18" for 18 carat gold, the London town mark, the maker's mark "HH" and date letter "B" for 1837. The date letter "B" was at the very begining of Queen Victoria's reign, only used from 29 May until 20 June 1837.
The case has engine turned engraving to the rear. There are some minor indents to teh edge of the cover as can be expected - it is approx 175 years old !
The gold dial is in good condition with minor surface scratches.
The fusee movement is in working order and signed by the maker "Jas. Ritchie & Son, Edinburgh". Key wound and set with the key provided
