Description

An exquisite Antique, Victorian, English Silver Presentation Snuff Box.
The box is hallmarked on the inside, the lid having the Monarch's Head duty mark (Queen Victoria), the maker's mark "H.J" for Howard James, Great Hampton Street, Birmingham and the Lion Passant Silver Mark, the Birmingham town mark and date letter "i" for 1883/84. The base having the maker's mark "H.J" again alongside monarch's head mark and date letter.
There is a very nice Presentation Inscription, the box being "Presented to Mr J G Lowson by a few friends at 28 Haymarket SW, Sept 17th 1897". (see photo).
There is lovely engraved decoration to the lid and base.
