Description

A good antique, Victorian Scottish Silver Agricultural Medal.
This Highland Agricultural Society of Scotland medal was presented to John Hossack Docharty Wester Ross in 1873 for Chevalier Barley.
It is stamped with the maker's name Kirkwood & Son for Alexander Kirkwood & Son, Medalists, Edinburgh.
The firm of Alexander Kirkwood & Son was established in 1826 and still trade today from their premises at 13 Albany Street, Edinburgh.
The medal measures 35mm in diameter. The weight is 21.6g.
In excellent condition, although it does have a minor edge knock.
It is apparently unmarked (this is common for Scottish silver medals of this age), therefore selling as white metal.
