Description

A rare Antique, late 18th century, Scottish Sterling Silver Spoon made in Edinburgh and dating from c1770.
It is hallmarked with the maker's mark P most probably for Patrick Robertson, the Scottish thistle sterling silver mark, the Edinburgh castle town mark and the date letter.
The marks are worn as can be seen, with the maker's mark and date difficult to read. However, Patrick Robertson is recorded as working in Edinburgh c1769-1790. The date letter appears to be the type used that ended in 1780, therefore the spoon likely to date from c1769 - 1780.
The spoon is in good condition.
It measures approximately 8" inches (205mm) in length. The weight is 47.3g.
