A 1780 - 1980 Bicentenary of The Society of Antiquaries of Scotland Medal Bronze Medal.
This medal was made to celebrate the bicentenary of The Society of Antiquaries of Scotland in 1980.
The Society of Antiquaries of Scotland is the senior antiquarian body of Scotland, with its headquarters in the National Museum of Scotland, Chambers Street, Edinburgh. The Society's aim is to promote the cultural heritage of Scotland.
The medal is complete with the original issue jeweller's box from Alexander Kirkwood & Son, Medalists, 13 Albany Street, Edinburgh. Estd 1826. This firm still in existence today.
The oval shaped medal measures 52mm x 44mm x 4mm thick.
