Description

A very rare, Antique, Scottish Silver medal for Fencing, awarded in Edinburgh c1840.
It is hallmarked with the Monarch's Head duty mark, the Scottish thistle silver mark, the maker's mark JN, the Edinburgh castle town mark and date letter G for 1839/40.
The medal awarded for Fencing, Senior Prize, carried by James Gerard Young esq. 9th May 1840. Awarded by Mr Johnston, Edinburgh.
This larger sized medal measures 60mm in diameter and the weight is 55.1g.
