Description

A very good quality, Antique, early Victorian Scottish Silver Snuff Box made in by James Nasmyth of Edinburgh and dating from c1837. Scottish made snuff boxes are relatively rare and this is a nice example.
The inside of the base is hallmarked with the Monarch's Head duty mark, the Scottish thistle silver mark, the maker's mark JN for James Nasmyth, the Edinburgh castle town mark and date letter f for 1837/38. The inside of the lid similarly hallmarked.
The exterior of the box with lovely engine turned engraving to all the sides. The lid with the former owner's engraved initials.
The box measures 77mm x 45mm x 14mm. The weight is 78.0g.
