Description

A very good, antique, late Victorian gentleman's sterling silver cased, fusee Pocket Watch made by F Lipeth of Edinburgh and dating from c1899.
This watch is a very good example, in nice condition and in good working order.
The English made, sterling silver case is in good condition, all covers opening and closing tightly as they should. It has full English hallmarks for sterling silver. The case maker's mark JR, the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Chester town mark and the date letter "Q" for 1899/1900. The rear of the case has lovely engine turned engraving with a central cartouche that is free of initials. The inner cuvette with the former owner's name engraved.
The white enamel dial is in very good condition. It has the hours in Roman numerals and a sub-seconds dial at six o'clock.
The good quality fusee movement is in excellent working order. It is signed F Lipeth, Edinburgh. It is key wind and set by the key provided.
The watch measures 52mm in diameter (across the case, excluding the winding crown).
Overall, this is a very good example, it would make a lovely addition to any collection.
