Description

An antique, Victorian, presentation medal from the Edinbugh Angus Club. The Edinburgh Angus Club was founded in 1840, and instituted in 1841. Its aim was encouraging friendly intercourse among the members and the advancement of education in Angus.
It was originally designed to support students from Angus studying in Edinburgh University. Over the years it has widened its remit, supporting outstanding senior pupils from the High
Schools & Academies in Angus and the city of Dundee.
This prize medal was awarded to Alexander Steven, Highest Latin Class, Arbroath High School, dated 1871-72.
It is hallmarked on the edge of the medal plate but is partly obscured by the border(see photo).
