Description

A large and heavy sterling silver medal from the Glasgow School of Architecture, Session 1954-55, the Glasgow Corporation Medal for Civic Design awarded to Elizabeth Inglis Sayers.
Miss Elizabeth Inglis Sayers was born on 29 January 1933, the daughter of Douglas Hollingsworth Sayers, solicitor, and his wife Isabella Macfarlane Inglis. She was elected a student member of the RIBA in 1953. She was living in Clarkston in Glasgow about this time and studied at the School of Art there. She was elected ARIBA in 1957.
The medal is hallmarked with the maker's mark "E&S" for Edward & Sons of Buchanan Street, Glasgow, the Birmingham anchor town mark, the lion passant sterling silver mark and date letter e for 1954/55.
The medal measures 108mm x 48mm and the weight is 180.2g.
