VERY GOOD, ANTIQUE ENGLISH GENTLEMAN'S SILVER FUSEE POCKET WATCH, Robt. ROSKELL, LIVERPOOL.
A very good, antique, Victorian gentleman's sterling silver cased, fusee Pocket Watch by Robert Roskell of Liverpool.
This watch is a good example, in nice condition and in good working order.
The English made, sterling silver case is in good condition, all covers opening and closing tightly as they should. It has full English hallmarks for sterling silver. The case maker's mark "WH", the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Leopard's Head London town mark and the date letter "E" for 1880/81. The rear of the case with engine turned engraving and a central cartouche that is free of initials.
The white enamel dial is in very good condition. It has the hours in Roman numerals and a sub-seconds dial at six o'clock.
The good quality fusee movement is signed by the maker, "R Roskell". It is in excellent working order. It is key wind and set by the key provided.
The watch measures 50mm in diameter (across the case, excluding the winding crown).
Overall, this is a very good example, it would make a lovely addition to any collection.
