A SUPERB, LARGE, GEORGIAN ANTIQUE ENGLISH STERLING SILVER TABLE SNUFF BOX,
A very good quality, Large Antique, Georgian English Silver Table Snuff Box made in London by William Edwards and dating from c1824.
The inside of the base is hallmarked with the maker's mark "WE" for William Ewards, the Monarch's Head duty mark, the Lion Passant Sterling Silver mark, the Leopard's Head London town mark and date letter "i" for 1824/25. The lid similarly hallmarked with maker's mark, the Lion Passant Sterling Silver mark and the date letter alongside engraved initials (see photo).
The exterior of the box with engine turned engraving to top and bottom and a reeded finish to the sides. The box measures 87mm x 55mm x 27mm.
The weight is 143.4g/5.05oz/4.6ozt
