A GOOD QUALITY, ANTIQUE RARE 15CT GOLD SCOTTISH AUTOMOBILE CLUB BADGE,
A rare, 15CT Gold Scottish Automobile Club Badge or brooch.
The Scottish Automobile Club was established c1898/99 to "promote automobilism in Scotland". William Douglas Weir was a founder member. It later became the Royal Scottish Automobile Club and had its premises in Blythswood Square, Glasgow.
The badge has a central saltire (St Andrews Cross), surrounded with the club name "Scottish Automobile Club" and the bar inscribed with the club motto "Gang Warily", the terminals of the bar with peridots.
The rear of the badge stamped "15CT" for 15 carat gold.
The badge measures 55mm in width by 25mm in height.
It is in excellent condition.
