Description

A very nice, good quality, antique, Victorian Sterling Silver Pocket Watch made by Alexander Brownlee, Edinburgh and dating from c1876.
The sterling silver case is hallmarked with the case maker's mark "HS" for the case maker, Henry Stuart, the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Chester town mark and date letter "n" for 1876/77. The case with nice engine turned engraving to the rear and a central cartouche that is free of engraved initials.
The white enamel dial has the hours in Roman numerals and a sub seconds dial at six o'clock. It is in good condition, but does have some very minor faint hairlines.
The fusee movement is signed by the maker "Alexr. Brownlee, Edinburgh" and has the serial number 70912 to match the case, proving both are original and have been together since new. It is key wound and set with the key provided.
The watch measures 50mm in diameter (across the case). The weight is 111.0g
