An Antique George III, English Provincial Sterling Silver Mug made by John Langlands I & John Robertson I, Newcastle c1792.
It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "IL/IR" for John Langlands I & John Robertson I, the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Leopard's Head Crowned, the "three castles" Newcastle town mark and the Monarch's Head duty mark and date letter "B" for 1792/93.
The partnership between John Langlands I and John Robertson I is recorded as being active 1778 - 1795.
There are later engraved initials and date "1871 to the front of the mug.
It measures 3 3/4" inches (95mm) in height. The weight is 168.5g/5.94oz/5.41ozt.
It is in excellent condition.
