Description

A very nice, Gentleman's antique, early Victorian, Scottish, 18CT Gold Pocket Watch made by Muirhead & Arthur, Argyle Street, Glasgow and dating from c1849.
The case inner cuvette (dust cover) engraved with the original owner's name "William Boyd, Coatbridge, March 1849"
The 18CT Gold case is hallmarked with the maker's mark, the "crown" above "18" for 18 carat gold, the Leopard's Head London town mark and date letter "n" for 1848/49.
The rear of the case has decorative engraving with a decorative rim and bezel.
The gold dial has the hours in Roman numerals and decorative engraving to the centre, complete with a lovely pair of original hands.
The movement is signed by the maker "Muirhead & Arthur, Argyle Street, Glasgow" and has the serial number 24429. It has a lovely engraved balance cock and diamond end stone.
It is key wound and set with the key provided.
The watch measures 53mm in diameter. The weight is 134.5g
