Description

A very good antique, Victorian, Scottish Sterling Silver mounted Cowrie Shell Snuff Mull made in Edinburgh and dating from c1898.
It is relatively rare to find this type of Snuff Mull with full sterling silver hallmarks.
The inside of the lid is hallmarked with the maker's mark "M&R" for Mitchell & Russell, the Scottish thistle sterling silver mark, the Edinburgh castle town mark and date letter "r" for 1898/99.
The mull is in very good condition.
It measures 3 1/2" inches (90mm) in length.
