Description

A Scottish Pair (Double) Cased Pocket Watch by G & J Murison of Fraserburgh in the north of Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
This watch is NOT in working order therefore being sold as in need of repair/restoration.
The English Silver double case hallmarked with the maker's mark "SL, the Lion Passant Sterling Silver mark, the Chester town mark and date letter "O" for 1914/15. It also has the serial number 97543 to match the movement proving both are original and have been together since new.
Both inner and outer cases in very good condition.
The dial is signed with the maker's name "G & J Murison Fraserburgh". It is in good condition but does have some faint hairlines and a chip on the edge at the 18 minute mark.
The fusee movement is also signed with the makers name "G & J Murison of Fraserburgh" and serial number 97543. It has a nicely engraved balance cock. The balance swings freely, however the fusee chain is off.
The outer case has some local old watchmaker's papers inside. Two from J R Murison, 64 Broad Street, Fraserburgh and interestingly an earlier paper from C W Gray, 64 Broad Street, fraserburgh that has been over stamped with "J & J Murison", the papers being of identical design, obviously Murison taking over the business from C W Gray.
A nice old watch for the collector, but will need repair if to be brought back to working order.
