Description

An immaculate George II, Provincial English Sterling Silver Lidded Tankard by John Langlands I, Newcastle and dating from c1757.
The tankard hallmarked with the maker's mark "IL" for John langlands I, the Lion Passant Sterling Silver Mark, the Leopard's Head Crowned and the Three Castles town mark for Newcastle and date letter "S" for 1757/58.
This is an extremely good example and in excellent condition.
It measures 6 3/4" inches (170mm) in height. The base just under 5" inches (123mm) in diameter. The weight is 609g/21.5oz.
