Description

A nice Antique English Silver Verge Fusee Pocket Watch, made by William Gow, London and dating from c1787.
The watch is complete and in very good condition however not in perfect working order, it does run a while but stops therefore being sold as in need of service/repair.
Both solid silver cases are in good condition. The case is hallmarked with the Lion Passant silver mark, the case maker’s initials "WW", the Monarch's Head duty mark, the Leopard's Head Crowned London town mark and the date letter "m" for 1787/88.
The Verge Fusee movement is not in perfect working order. It is key wound and set. The movement has a nicely engraved balance cock and a diamond end stone. It is signed by the maker "Willm Gow, London" and has the serial number 241. It is complete with dust cover, also signed and with the serial number.
The dial is in good condition with a very faint hairline at five o'clock. The original bulls eye glass has some minor surface scratches.
Overall a very good example of an 18th Century Pocket Watch.
