Antique Elgin Hunter Pocket Watch Decorative Case
Description
A very nice gentleman's Antique Elgin National Watch Company USA, Hunter Cased Pocket Watch dating from c1900.The watch with a very good quality, rolled gold, decorative hunter case. The case with a shield shaped cartouche to the front that has engraved initials. The rear with a similar cartouche with a village scene depicted (the engraving worn). The case front cover spring weak therefore you have to lift it open manually, it does not spring open, it also opens beyond 90 degrees. The rear inner cuvette stamped with the case maker's name "Providence W C Co" and also "Warranted 20 years".
The quality movement signed by the maker's "Elgin Nat'l Watch Co, USA". The movement with the serial number 8,842479 dating the watch to c1900.
It is stem wind and lever set, the time being set by turning the winding crown after pulling out the small lever located at the five o'clock position.
The dial is in excellent condition, it has the hours in Roman numerals and is signed by the maker "Elgin".
Overall a very nice pocket watch in good condition and working order.
It measures 53mm in diameter (across the case, excluding the stem).
