Description

A very good Scottish Provincial Silver Serving Spoon or large Tablespoon made by James Erskine of Aberdeen and dating from c1795.
James Erskine is recorded as working in Aberdeen c1792 - 1816.
It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "E" and the "hand and dagger" for James Erskine alongside the "three turrets" town mark for Aberdeen.
The spoon would have originally have been one of a set of twelve, the terminal has the initial "A" engraved above the number 8.
The spoon is in very good overall condition, but there is a small indent in the bowl.
It measures 9" inches (230mm) in length.
