A nice Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Fusee Pocket Watch, made by James Ballantyne & Son of Glasgow, Scotland, dating from c1886.
The watch is in good overall condition, however not in working order it. Therefore the watch is being sold as in need of service/repair.
The English made sterling silver case is in good condition. It is hallmarked with case maker's mark "IH", the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the London town mark and date letter "L" for 1886/87. The rear of the case has a central cartouche that is free of initials. The engine turned engraving is worn near the edge. The case is in good overall condition, but there are a couple of minor indents to the rear.
The English Lever Fusee movement is not in working order as stated above. It is key wound and set (key not provided). The movement is signed by the maker "James Ballantyne & Son, 52 Virginia St., Glasgow
The dial is in good condition - see photo. It has Roman numerals for the hours and a sub seconds dial at six o'clock. It is signed by the makers "James Ballantyne & Son, Glasgow".
The watch measures approximately 51mm in diameter (excuding stem and bow ring).
