Description

A good Scottish Silver & Enamel Agricultural Medal.
This Highland & Agricultural Society of Scotland Medal for Ploughing was presented to David Braid in 1931.
It is hallmarked on the reverse with the maker's mark "K&S" for Alexander Kirkwood & Son, the Scottish "thistle" silver mark, the Edinburgh castle town mark and date letter "Z" for 1930/31. It is complete with the original fitted presentation case/box from the maker Alexander Kirkwood & Son, Medalists, 9 St James Square Edinburgh.
The firm of Alexander Kirkwood & Son was established in 1826 and still trade today from their premises at 13 Albany Street, Edinburgh.
The medal is accompanied by a printed card from the St Andrews and District Ploughing Association. A hand written not on the reverse stating "Highland & Agricultural Society Medal to be presented at final meeting in Blue Bell Hotel".
It measures 40mm in height, the circular shape 30mm diameter. The weight is 18.0g.
In excellent condition.
