Description

A very fine, rare, Gentleman's 14CT Solid Gold Cased Pocket Watch made by the very highly regarded and sought after Union Horlogere, Bienne, Switzerland. The company was founded in 1883.
This watch is an excellent example, in superb condition and very good working order.
The 14 carat solid gold hunter case is in excellent condition, plain gold with engine turned engraving to the rear cover. It is stamped inside the rear cover with "14K" alongside Swiss control marks for 14 carat solid gold. It also bears the "UH" trade mark and serial number. The inside of the rear cover has an old watch maker's paper from Camerer Cuss & Co., Clock & Watch Makers, New Oxford Street, London. The cuvette (inner dust cover) is not gold.
The white enamel dial is in excellent condition, it has the hours in Arabic numerals and a sub seconds dial at six o'clock. It is signed "Alpina Chronometer, Bienne - Geneve".
The good quality movement is in excellent working order. It also has the UH trade mark. The movement is stem wound and pin set, the time being set by turning the winding crown whilst depressing the small pin located on the case side band at 11 o'clock.
The watch measures 53mm in diameter (across the case, excluding the winding crown). The weight is 80.9g.
An extremely nice example of a fine Swiss made watch.
