Description

A very nice, antique, Victorian, Scottish 18CT Gold Pocket Watch made by Mackay & Chisholm, Edinburgh and dating from c1875.
The 18CT Gold case is hallmarked with the maker's mark "PW", the "crown" and "18" for 18 carat gold, the Leopard's Head London town mark and date letter "U" for 1875/76. The rear of the case has the original owner's initials "JE" for James Elliot. The inner cuvette with a presentation inscription to James Elliot dated 14th March 1877.
The white enamel dial has the hours in Roman numerals and a sub seconds dial at six o'clock. It is signed by the maker "Mackay & Chisholm, Edinburgh".
The movement is signed by the maker "Mackay & Chisholm, Edinburgh" and has the serial number 40603. It has a lovely engraved balance cock and diamond end stone. It is stem wound and pin set.
The watch measures 50mm in diameter (across the case). The weight is 99.5g
