Description

A very nice, heavy, large Antique Victorian English Silver Fusee Pocket Watch, made by John Forrest, London, in very good condition and in working order.
The English sterling silver case is in excellent condition. It is hallmarked with the case maker's mark "IH" for John Hammon (Watch Case Maker, York Street, Coventry), the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Chester town mark and the date letter "R" for 1900/01. The case with decorative engraving, to the rear a central shield shaped cartouche surrounded by a gold garter belt. The case has the serial number 8127 to match the movement dust cover, proving all are original and have been together since new.
The English Lever Fusee movement is in good working order. It is key wound and set with the key provided. The movement has a nicely engraved balance cock and is signed "Chronometer Maker to the Admiralty". The dust cover signed "John Forrest, London".
The silver dial is in good condition. It has the hours in gold Roman numerals and a sub seconds dial at six o'clock.
The watch measures approximately 57 mm in diameter (excuding stem and bow ring). The weight is 155.6g.
Overall a very nice, antique, Gentleman's Silver pocket watch, a nice one for your collection.
