Large George V, English Silver Teapot c1919

Description

A very good quality, large, heavy, English Sterling Silver Teapot made by Walker & Hall, Sheffield and dating from c1919.
It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "W&H" for Walker & Hall, the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the "crown" Sheffield town mark and date letter "b" for 1919/20. The underside also stamped "Walker & Hall, Sheffield" under the "W&H" flag trade mark. There is also the number 64461.
The teapot is complete with a strainer that can be lifted out, the border of the strainer not hallmarked so probably white metal. It is stamped "Walker & Hall, Sheffield" and also has the Registration number "Regd. 592672".
It measures 10 3/4" inches (270mm) in width (handle to spout) and 5" inches (130mm) in height. It is approx. 6 1/2" inches (165mm) in diameter at the widest point.
The weight is 700g/24.7ozoz/22ozt
In excellent condition. The inside of the teapot and strainer, tea stained through normal use. Other than that, no damage, dents nor repairs, a couple of very light surface scratches but showing very little signs of wear.
