A rare, antique, English, gold plated Hunter Cased Pocket Watch made by the Lancashire Watch Co, Prescot.
The Lancashire Watch Company of Prescot was founded in 1889 by Thomas P. Hewitt as a rival to the large American and Swiss watch companies. It failed in 1910.
This example has a nice crest to the front cover depicting a Lions Head surrounded by Scottish thistles. The rear cover has the initials of the original owner nicely engraved. The watch case was made by the Dennison Watch case Co. The English made lever movement signed by the maker "Lancashire Watch Co Ltd., Prescot, England".
